So, dear students, time to pick up the thread. Now that the first primary schools are carefully thinking about a new start of the lessons, I think my fashion colleges can add a little extra. Are we all in the class after my revelations about body shapes and colour shades? Excellent! Today I'm going to start with another colorful theme: color types. Always wanted to know what spot you get on the rainbow? Then pay a little attention, because here you'll learn how to make your personal colour type blossom optimally as soon as the beaches beckon again...
You know that? You buy the perfect bikini online or in the store. Gladly you're going to try it on, or even worse: you quickly stuff it in your suitcase and fly into the sun. Full of expectation, you put on your asset. As soon as you look at your point-blank presented beach body, doubt creeps up on you. Huh? Wasn't this the ideal match you saw yourself sunbathing in? What happened? Did you get the wrong guy? Fat chance you didn't take your color type into account. So now we're gonna change that. From now on you know exactly how to get a beautiful tan on the beach - and not standing in front of the mirror again with a pale nose and the pubic red on your jaws.
You're unique, of course. Let's start with that. Everyone has his or her strengths and beauty, but still. Despite all that diversity, it helps if we divide colour types according to the order of the Quattro Stagioni - the Four Seasons. We build your type with your hair color, the color of your eyes and the complexion of your skin. Knowing whether you are an autumn, winter, spring or summer type suddenly makes it a lot easier to choose the right colors. Whether it's swimwear, lingerie, make-up or outerwear: from now on you will know exactly what you're looking for. We walk through the seasons together, but we don't suddenly pack all year round. We start with the autumn and spring types, a nice bunch of counterparts. In the next lecture we take summer and winter.
Do you have beautiful brown or green eyes? Is your hair brown, from medium cognac to a dark wood tone, or with a full glow of gold or copper? Does your skin glow with a golden yellow, bronzed, deep brown, or beige complexion? Then you are a real autumn type. Good news, because even when it gets cold and sour outside, you continue to radiate warmth. You can enhance that look by working with natural, warm autumn tones. You are nuanced and sultry as a warm September afternoon when you play with shades of brown: from golden honey colours to deep dark brown and the shades of leather and autumn leaves. Go for green too, but not bright green: olive shades and dark emerald shades are your friend!
The deep blue of a clear October evening and the cool shades of a lake in the autumn are also good choices. Contrast this with the colour of amber or the warm rays of a strong autumn sun. Bronze and rust colours are also great to play with. Be careful with bright blue and avoid hard pink and all too red colours.
Ah, the Spring! If this is your season and colour type, you have been the muse of generations of painters and musicians throughout the centuries. Your skin is light, but not icy cool: a bit like those first soft rays of spring sunshine. Everyone's been waiting for you all winter, so show off your spring power!
Spring types have a light complexion, but a contagious warmth radiates through them. You are somewhat vulnerable to the sun, but you do have a chance to get golden freckles, which gives your colour a whole new dimension. Your hair colour tends towards the blond part of the spectrum: from shiny golden blond to coppery, but the subtle reddish tones are also part of spring. Your eye colour is also on the light side: soft blue or greyish blue, sparkling light green, or radiant light brown.
Spring is the herald of summer heat. That's why, as a spring type, you should try to collect as much heat and sunlight in your wardrobe as possible. Choose warm tones wherever you can, as this will increase the spring strength of your skin, hair and eye colour tenfold. Tints of brown work well, but especially warm browns like you see in dark chocolate, coffee with a cloud of milk and deep shiny mahogany. Beige and camel colours are on the edge, but if your reddish hair colour gives you a little more room for manoeuvre you can try them.
Surprisingly, navy blue can also set a warm tone, especially if you enhance it with the brown shades we discussed above. Stay away from red, because that colour draws all the heat out of your sunny spring looks. Don't be faint pink, because you don't need it for anything. Rather choose warm purple or turquoise. If you want to vary, all the warm shades of yellow are also worth it. As you can see, spring surprises with a dazzling range of colours: so can you!
Have you discovered your type yet? Good, then you can get straight to work on your new collection. Don't you recognize yourself in these two colour sketches? No problem, because in my next lecture I will discuss Winter and Summer, so you too will soon know which colour type suits you!
